The Collab x S&C Coach Periodization Guidelines for 2025
Who is overseeing your athlete’s load throughout the year? The high school coach manages the athlete’s high school load, the club coach manages the athlete’s club load, etc but often there are additional commitments and thus, strains placed on the athlete such as recruiting showcases and clinics, the Nexus and Junior High Performance (JHP) Pathway, extra lessons, other sports, and more!
Often there isn’t a sole individual besides the family of the athlete who knows the entire physical and mental demands placed on the athlete. That’s why The Collab FH partnered with collegiate CSCS certified Strength & Conditioning Coach Andrew Butler to pioneer this multidisciplinary tool for families and coaches.
In this document, Coach Danielle used her knowledge of the year-round field hockey commitments and relative importance to create a wholistic understanding of the total strain placed on the athlete throughout the year. Coach Andrew took this information and created various strength and conditioning phases based on his knowledge of the human body and maximizing athletic performance. These phases coordinate with the athlete’s schedule so that the athlete is peaking during the key times for high-school season/post-season performance, Thanksgiving recruiting showcases, and/or JHP Selection Camp. Additionally, Coach Andrew shares some really important information regarding recovery plans and in-season indicators of peak performance.
